The Lawrence (New Jersey) Historical Society, a 150 member all-volunteer
group, is
applying for a general operating grant to hire a part time
administrator/coordinator.  The 30 year old society administers two historic
houses, the state-owned 1830 Port Mercer Canal House and the township-owned
1761 Brearley House.  The latter is available for rental for social and
business events.  Managing the rental business would be a major part of the
job.  Another responsibility would be developing and managing fund raising
activities.  We envision about 8 or 9 hours a week of work, most of which
could be done at home.
