Hi Kathleen,

I work at a small vintage store part-time and we use Square. It's easy, has
decent processing fees and uses a downloadable app. You get a card reader
from Square for free and can plug it into the headphone jack of any cell
phone or tablet. You swipe the card through the reader or you can enter the
numbers in manually and shoppers sign with their fingers on the screen.
Then they can have a text or e-mail sent to them as a receipt.

You can set your tax rate or even take the tax off if you don't use it.
There are expanded options for creating discounts, item categories, and
other things that we typically don't use. The nice thing about it is that
it is mobile and we use it on the road when we do vintage shows elsewhere
on the east coast.

You can get a cheap tablet or smartphone to use or have people use their
own phones. There are expanded systems for a complete register system but
the basic unit works well for us. We even get a summary of sales at the end
of the day.

Hope this helps!

Deb Fuller
