Hi, Rachel,

There is a picture of another one of these--at least, it fits your
verbal description--at http://www.bcx-iii.com/M147.html.  The dealer
says the ship is a Liberty ship--so asking your patron if he knows
what his father or grandfather did during World War II would seem to
be the next logical step.
