To Racid:

The Atlantic Forest is considered one of the most endangered ecosystems
in the world. For the past 20 years, several conservation groups have
been reseaching biodiversity (e.g. primates, palms etc) and establishing
small parks and protected areas. The two main US groups working in the
region are WWF-US and Conservation International. There are also
Brasilian groups, but I don't have their names or addresses. The US
groups can provide information about Brasilian contacts.

For information about conservation and environmental education on the
Atlantic Forest contact: Lou Ann Dietz, Program Officer for Brasil,
World Wildlife Fund-US, 1250 24th Street, NW Washington, DC 20037. Home
page http://wwf.org/

Dr Russell Mittermeir, President, Conservation International, 2501 M
Street, NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20037. Tel 202.429-5660 or
800.429-5660. The web site for CI has some information about the
Atlantic Forest -- http://www.conservation.international

Hope this helps.
