For those interested in the possibility of new alliances between museums and
schools, take a look at "Reinventing Schools: The Technology Is Now!"
<http://www.nap.edu/nap/online/techgap/>.  This very nicely designed
National Academy Press publication is a 1995 update of a 1993 convocation
hosted by the National Academy of Sciences.  Good quotes, graphs, and
text all point to where education is going in the age of technology.  As one
participant put it, "integrating technology into the traditional classroom is
like integrating the internal combustion engine into the horse!"

If museum people have a stereotype that teachers will always be practicing
"bulimic" education (gorge and purge), this site will open the possibility
of a new day ahead.  I know a number of classes here in the Four Corners
where the role reversal from teacher-led to learner-led classrooms has taken
place, and it's exciting!  This is something museums should be hooking up
to as a way of getting their resources used by a wider population.
