Hi Glen

Some suggestions as to what the problem might be.
Check that you are printing out the bar code stop and start characters either side of the number.
Check that your scanner is set up to read plain type-39 bar codes. Commercial product codes will be UPC or EAN format which is not the same format.
Check whether your scanner is expecting a check digit.

Subject: Barcoding Membership Cards

For many years we have manually recorded visitor data but now we are trying to go to a barcode system on our membership cards.

We are having some trouble with creation of the barcodes. We can read all sorts of barcodes on commercial products but when we downloaded a free type 39 font and printed it our barcode reader does not recognise it. Seems that it is not as simple as we thought.

Are there any hints out there? We are on a limited budget.

Thanks!
