In my opinion (admittedly somewhat biased since this is my museum!), a new
permanent exhibit at the National Museum of Natural History called African
Voices does a very good job of presenting the views of the museum scholars
involved in producing it and also the peoples being represented. A variety
of "voices" are represented in this exhibit and many Western and non-Western
people were either consulted or were directly involved in the planning.
Throughout the exhibit African people speak to the exhibit-goer in the form
of videos and recordings. You can judge for yourself by checking out the
