Hi all,

I'm posting the message below for Nick Ardizzone, but you may reply to me
if you have any information. Nick says he has identified collections at
the Kerlan, Lilly and DeGrummond libraries, all of which have good
Ardizzone collections, but not the particular work he's looking for. If
you can help, please let me know.

I am hoping that you can help me with advice on locating a set of
illustrations, the complete set for:

'Tim and Ginger'

written and illustrated by my father Edward Ardizzone RA (1900-1979).

The book was published by Oxford University Press in 1965. The originals
are known to have been sold to an American university sometime in the
1970s, but no one in the family, nor our agent, has any record as to
which
one. I was living abroad at the time of the transaction, so was never
aware
of it and, although I have the majority of the family papers, I can find
no
reference to it.

The 11 'Little Tim' Books are about to be republished over the next three
years, centring on the millennium, which is also the centenary of my
father's birth.

The publishers, Scholastic Children's Books of London, are specialists in
re-publication. They are taking enormous trouble with the design and
production of the new editions and have engaged some distinguished
advisors
to this end.

They have access to all or most of the originals of each book except 'Tim
&
Ginger'. All are to be re-originated, but in the case of the latter, if
we
fail to locate the originals, it will be necessary to originate from a
first edition, which would be a pity, as the results are likely to be out
of balance with the other titles. If you know the whereabouts of the
illustrations I would be most grateful to hear about it.

If you can offer me advice on how to pursue my investigation, or if you
were otherwise able to put my interest 'on the grapevine', I would
greatly
appreciate it. I am casting this e-mail quite wide among libraries,
societies and universities, so please forgive me should you hear of it
from
someone else.

With best regards
Nicholas Ardizzone

Please see my website:
http://www.ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/nardizzone This contains a
bibliography and outline biography of Edward Ardizzone. These are
up-to-date: you are welcome to incorporate the information into your site
should you wish, but I would much appreciate a credit!
