My personal favorite that I don't seem to be able to forget is a
Petrified Birthday Cake seen in a small museum around 1976. Part of
what was memorable is the unanswered questions arising from the
exhibit. The label with the cake was something along the lines of
Petrified Birthday Cake baked for a girl's [might have mentioned the
name] 10th [or therabouts] birthday in 189somthing by the Chinese
cook. It appeared to have not been cut into and was in pretty good
shape. I still wonder why it wasn't eaten.

As far as oddities/best loved artifacts in our own collection, people
seem to be fascinated by the pickled sea lamprey display.

Fishfully yours,

Randi Smith
