of Peter Frederick Rothermel (1812-1895) ?

His "Columbus before the Queen" (1841) has romantic garb and you should
see his "Downer Children" (1850) both are at the Smithsonian American
Art Museum. His work is also found at

Gallery in London and at the

in PA.

AskArt also lists eight other works.

Hope that this helps!

Subject: P.F. Rothermel paintings

Greetings all...I looking for information about specific paintings by
Peter Frederick Rothermel (1812-1895). He is best known as a history
painter, but I am seeking any information on small (about 12x16 image
size) portraits of women, ca. 1860s, in romantic garb and poses.
We have one in our collection, and I've seen at least one other...is
anyone aware of these paintings?
Thanks much!
Candace Perry
