Dear Listmembers,
Recently our museum dismantled a small wooden building.
The numerous rotted, now dry "lacunae" (holes, voids, are candidates for this
"flexible" filler with it's integral tiny glass beads.Depending on the size
of fill required one can purchase varying sizes of beads. The dough is
spread in with a spatula. The dry consistency is like that of styrofoam and
yet not structurally sound to withstand any load bearing.
Unlike epoxy I understand it is non-exothermic and yet is easily reversible.
I am looking for a U.S. source if anyone knows it .
I also need a fill that is structurally sound.Any conservator have comments
on reversibility of say West System's epoxy? I would think that although
good for load bearing requirements it is not easily reversible in such &
perhaps large chunks as may be required.
Thankyou one and all who comment.
Sincerely,
Len Hambleton-Objects Conservator
