Internship Opportunity
Museum Education at Lubbock Lake Landmark

Lubbock Lake Landmark, an archaeological and natural history
preserve, is offering a paid, nine-month internship in Museum
Education. The start date may be between February 1 and April 1,
2002. The student intern will work in a team-based collaborative
environment, reporting to the Education Program Manager and Director
of Lubbock Lake Landmark.  Duties are project-oriented and may
include:

* assisting with planning and implementation of public programming
initiatives including workshops, tours, lectures, traveling trunks,
off site programs/outreach related to archaeology and the cultural
and natural history of the region
* providing assistance with volunteer program organization and
training that provides opportunities for individuals ages 13 and
older to participate in the activities of the Landmark
* assisting with communication activities such as newsletter writing,
public relations/marketing, and development of curricular materials
* developing methods to evaluate training and public programming initiatives
* preparing funding applications

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of curriculum
development, training techniques and methodologies, learning theory,
volunteer coordination, program development, and evaluation
techniques. Excellent interpersonal skills are required, including
the ability to deal effectively with people of varying experience and
expertise. Excellent organizational skills, written and oral
communication skills are required, as is proficient with computers
and word processing. The candidate must be able to work
simultaneously on multiple, diverse tasks. Current enrollment in a
graduate museum science or education program or recent graduate is
preferred.
