Free-Choice Learning Researcher/Evaluator

The Institute for Learning Innovation, a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit
learning research and development organization, is seeking to hire an
experienced, entrepreneurial Senior Researcher to join a staff of
dedicated, nationally prominent free-choice learning researchers,
evaluators, educational developers and trainers.

The Institute for Learning Innovation's mission is to develop a society
in which lifelong learning in general, and free-choice learning
specifically, is understood, appreciated and supported. Our efforts to
better understand, support and advocate for free-choice learning - the
learning people engage in when they get to choose what, where, when, and
with whom to learn - includes conducting basic and applied research,
evaluating institutional educational efforts, professional training and
organizing and hosting conferences and workshops. We work with a wide
range of organizations, although much of our work has focused on three
overlapping arenas - museum-related organizations (art, history,
science, zoos and aquariums), efforts focused on the environment and
projects involving families. We welcome applicants with these
backgrounds and interests. However, as part of our continuing effort to
broaden the scope of our activities, we also invite applications from
individuals who could bring to our organization expertise and interests
in other area(s) of free-choice learning (e.g., libraries, new media,
projects focused on older adults).

The Institute is a highly collegial organization which provides a
supportive environment for self-motivated and creative individuals
interested in making a difference in the world of learning research and
practice. Senior Researchers are expected to contribute to
conceptualizing, grant-making, planning, implementing and managing
complex applied and basic research and evaluation projects related to
free-choice learning. As part of the Institute's commitment to promoting
a community of free-choice learning professionals, Senior Researchers
are also expected to speak at professional meetings, publish in areas of
research and practice, help to organize conferences, conduct in-service
and graduate-level training of professionals as well as help to mentor
the Institute's junior staff.

The Institute for Learning Innovation is strongly committed to our
employees. This commitment is reflected in our highly competitive salary
and benefits package. Interested individuals are encouraged to submit a
letter of intent, CV and names of three references by April 1, 2005 to:
