Hi Julie,

I used to work at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and I know they did research on Houston Independent School District students (4th and 7th) who visited the museum and information they retained during the visit. The test was built along the lines of TAAS and TEK requirements and has been used by the museum and HISD to justify school visits. I worked for the program they tested and wrote a curriculum guide for the field trip that used TAAS and TEKS guidelines. Contact
Carolyn Sumners at 713-639-4632 (director of Astronomy) and she'll have the data as well as the curriculum guide.

Good luck,

Cecelia Ottenweller

I'm interested in looking at how state education achievement standards have affected museum usage, and how museums have changed to respond to state standards. Has anyone out there done any research like this, or know of anyone or any institution that has conducted this research? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
