I have not been following this thread, but I wonder if anyone has yet
mentioned the Old Railroad Museum in Chatham, Mass. Here is a railroad
station that is a museum (of sorts).

There must be a number of old rural railroad stations that have been
preserved and turned into town museums and/or railroad museums.
