RE: Database systems for archives with images

Does any one - particularly in Australia or New Zealand have a
preference/experience for database systems when dealing with a
predominantly archival collection. I have spoken with some people using
Inmagic, and Vernon. I am interested to hear comments on pros and cons
regarding use in a largely photographic and document collection. We are
investigating options for a collection with over 7,000 items. We will be
scanning in the photographic images, so a system which is friendly to
images is preferred. I have used Inmagic with a digital camera, but with
a more object based collection. Any comments or suggestions would be
appreciated and looked into.

Thanks Nina Siers
