Thanks for your note. A couple of years ago the city turned management of the museum over to a local tourist venue operator. That company hired the current director, whose training and experience is in business a few months ago. While I suppose I could appeal to the management company or the city, my guess is that would probably be ineffective and in any case is more trouble than it's worth. So I will probably say that a couple of statements published by the local historian cannot be verified at this point. I suspect that the historian's statements are incorrect, but there is no way to tell without analyzing the original sources, which may or may not be identified in the papers. Such is life. Again, my real concern is if any other public collections have such a restriction. So far, none has been mentioned. Best, David
