One of the most compelling issues in public art, I think, is how to reach a
diverse audience and still have "good" art --the sort of compromise needed to
appeal to "mom and museums."  The resolving of this issue is a matter of
choosing artists who are aware of the problem and who make audience specific
work as much as site specific.
