Not quite the panacea implied below. You may need to pay corporate taxes
and personal income taxes. There is a minimum corporate income tax in most
states so that even if you balanced all corporate income against expenses
you would be taxed. Generally a corporation limits your liability and that
makes it worth the extra expense. Now there is a Sub Chapter S corporation
that was taxed sort of the way you are talking about but it still may not
be a low as simply paying your personal income taxes. A new form of
corporation was created within the past couple years it is like a sub
chapter S I am sorry I don't know the details. As an independant contractor
or corporation you may be asked to provide evidence working man's
compensation on yourself. As a proprietor you can, pay premiums and get a
certificate, but can't collect. If you are incorporated you will have to
provide it. But you can collect. Remember to pay your FICA. But its not 7%
you pay as an employee but you must pay the employee and employer's portion
about 13%. I suggest you get in touch with someone with more business
experience than the members of this list can provide by email and see what
is best for you.
Good luck

>Lorri,
>Incorporate yourself when working for contract.
>Have your corporation pay you. Only that amount would be taxed.
>Doctors do it. Tax laws are written for business, so become a business.
