The posting below led me to think about the increasing number of museum
related websites that are discussed in [log in to unmask] I
suddenly realized that there had been no discussion of the economic
implications. I imagined a traditional museum with its large investment in
the physical plant for maintaining the collection. Suddenly a means for
visually and aurally providing access to the collection at relatively low
cost. But if access is shifted to the web will traditional sources of
revenue decrease? Have museums found the means to add a revenue stream from
this new access method?
