THE TECH MUSEUM OF INNOVATION
FULL-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE
Facilities Manager

The mission of The Tech Museum of Innovation is to serve as an educational
resource that engages people of all ages and backgrounds in exploring and
experiencing technologies affecting their lives, and to inspire young
people to become innovators in developing technologies of the future.

The Facilities Manager is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the
Senior Project Manager.  The position holds broad responsibility for
Current and Future Tech facilities support, including but not limited to:
* Provides design, planning, budgeting and implementation of facilities
projects to accommodate newly hired staff.
* Develops strategic planning for Current and Future Tech facilities needs
including long term space use needs and development of an integrated plan
for outside lease space for office, storage and engineering shop needs.
* Provides design, planning, budgeting and implementation of the Current
Tech reconfiguration project.
* Assists Senior Project Manager with Future Tech tasks including:
    -Large Screen Theater equipment installation
    -Fixtures, furnishings and equipment budgeting, procurement, delivery and
     installation
    -Observing building construction for conformance with plans and
specifications on behalf of The Tech.
* Performs other Future Tech facilities design and implementation duties as
assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Monitors progress against schedule and cost against budget on assigned
facilities projects and other areas of responsibility.  Works closely with
Senior Project Manager and others to identify critical facilities
requirements.
* Cooperates in the resolution of design and installation problems, in a
manner consistent with the project time, cost and quality goals.
* Makes regular reports to the Senior Project Manager and other senior
staff on cost, progress and special problems for areas of implementation
responsibility.
* Assists Senior Project Manager in preparing lists of recommended
fixtures, furnishing and equipment fabrication and installation
contractors; recommends contract awards; and prepares contract materials.
Performs contract administration for all assigned facilities projects.
* Prepares or administers detailed cost estimates for each area of
responsibility.
* Supports installation of exhibits.

Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction
Management or equivalent experience.
* Experience in the museum field construction coordination.  Familiarity
with interactive exhibits development and installation requirements.
Familiarity with construction contract administration and oversight.
* Highly proactive, goal-oriented work habits.
* Ability to produce concise, clear progress and budget reports.
* Familiarity with CPM, PERT and other common project management tools.
* Excellent judgment, initiative, and the ability to exercise positive
leadership in a team environment.
* Great sense of humor and understanding of Murphy's Law.
