If you do decide on carpet, make sure that it is not wool (or you will be
fighting moths) and that if it is in an enclosed area with objects that
nothing in the carpet will off-gas and react with anything in your objects.
We had an "interesting" experience with sulphur-based carpet backing and
silver objects (our conservator called the resulting crystalline growth on
the silver the "black fuzzies")
