Another museum with hands-on fish packing exhibits is the
Norsk Hermetikkmuseum (Norwegian Canning Museum) which is part of Stavanger
Museums (Ovre Strandgate 88 A, Stavanger, Norway, tel: +47 51 52 60 35, fax:
+47 51 52 93 80). In this museum visitors have the oportunity to try
threading fish on wires for smoking and packing fish into cans. You can
also try freshly smoked fish (not the ones the visitors have handled!). The
fish concerned are Brisling-sardines (a form of herring, not to be confused
with sardines). The museum is in an old canning factory and also deals
with other types of fish which are/have been canned in Norway.
