Kevin,

If you're still interested in museums dealing with crime and torture, there
is a very interesting one in Rothenburg, Germany. It's a museum of crime and
(mostly) punishment in the Middle Ages. As the postcard which I have from my
visit five years ago says, it has "One thousand years of the history of
justice under one roof" (my translation). It features such wonders as iron
maidens, thumbscrews, stocks, spiked chairs, stretching wheels, etc. If I
remember correctly it was fairly large and took a couple of hours to go
through. I also recall it was a rather morbid place, though the stocks at
the entrance made a great photo op.
