A similar technique to using topo maps cut on the topo lines
and layered -- Cut out pieces of foam board to the topo
lines on the map and layer them. It gives a much greater
depth. You could do this with the map pieces glued on top or
paint it in whatever way would best put your message across.
A promoter for a ski project displayed this type of model in
a local mall when he was trying to get support. The model
was somewhere around eight by ten feet. Although it all
looked like terraces, it had a lot of impact and gave a good
idea of the lay of land for the ski slopes, etc.
