The Brooklyn Children's Museum is in the process of developing a new exhibit
about plants. The exhibit design includes both live plants and, in high
traffic areas, fake plants. I am looking for suggestions of techniques for
constructing fake plants (e.g. silk, cast plastic, etc.). The exhibits
design accomodates abstraction, so I'm open to material suggestions that run
the gambit from realistic to non-representational. Our primary concerns are
safety, for handling by children, and durability.

Thank you in advance for taking time to help out!
