To librarians in particular: Unlike the AAM's "Official Museum
Directory," Bowker's "International Directory of the Arts" lists
directors occasionally, but rarely any other staff. Are there any
books that provide staff lists for museums, particularly in Europe,
a la the OMD?
Re: ghoulish
While we're on the subject of bodies and body parts, wasn't it the
philosopher Jeremy Bentham who willed his body to an Oxford college
with the requirement that it be wheeled out for board meetings?
There is also the Wellcome Institute in London which has large
holdings of the less successful of Nature's experiments. Also, one
might inquire about the whereabouts of Dr. Fredrik Ruysch's
wunderkammer which included aborted fetuses artistically arranged,
complete with didactic memento mori labels, which was sold to
Peter the Great? (Dr. Ruysch, father of the painter Rachel Ruysch,
then went on to create another massive collection.)
