Regarding prisons---Alcatraz, famous for its birdman and near
impregnability (see the clint eastwood film about the one successful
(?) escape), is now open to the public.
Regarding ghoulishness---years ago the Walters, Baltimore, hosted an
exhibition of torture instruments from Nurnberg Castle, but I
believe the collection is now dispersed; a catalogue was
published.
