The Laguna Art Museum has an annual invitational art competition in
cooperation with a local artist group. Every July, 50 of the
countries best plein air artists are invited to come to Laguna Beach
and spend a week painting in the style and environs of the original
Laguna art colony. The week is topped off with a gala (fund raising)
at the museum where each artist displays four of his/her art for
judging and for sale. The artists set the prices and the proceeds are
apportioned to the museum, the art organizion and the artists. The
event is highly successful and draws artists as well as collectors
from all over the country.
