My goodness. Sometimes, I'm afraid that even we, the
enlightened, have our own prejudices and stigma.
Simply amazing!

Since I introduced the thread, there was never a time
in my mind, and I don't think you'll find it in my
original post (though a mind is a terrible thing to
lose and, without digging, I don't have my post
immediately in front of me such that I'm doing this
from memory) where I limited the experiences to
EuroAmerican ghosts. That was never a part of my
reality, but, hey, I never said I had a PhD so what
could I possibly know?

We have list members--and I've made newfound friends
with some very delightful people across Europe,
Australia, and in Africa--just this month alone. I am
amazed and delighted by the diversity represented and
I will admit to taking a little umbrage to this
limitation. Having grown up as a language major with a
special emphasis on diversity, after having dated men
from across the world (the Afghans were quite nice,
and if you want to pit two parties against one
another, ask the Indians about the Pakistanis and vice
versa) it never ceases to amaze me how parochial the
"American"/"EuroChristian" biases can be.

Not to worry. I'm afraid many cultures have stigma
against those who are different. For a real short
study in that, go rerent Spike Lee's Do the Right
Thing and watch the name calling toward the end.

I'm losing it here, and I'm really not trying to. I
have genuine problems when I encounter people who
believe that the only type of reality that exists is
the one THEY know and/or believe in. And I'm holding
my tongue and not going to say anything about too
tight undergarments.

Ok, Indigo. Calm down and shut up!

Going to go breathe for a while.
