Museum Educator
Lewis and Clark Exhibition Project

The Missouri Historical Society is hiring an Educator for a major,
nationally traveling exhibit on the Lewis and Clark expedition to open
in 2003.

The Lewis and Clark Bicentennial exhibit, developed by the Missouri
Historical Society, is a comprehensive exploration of the Corps of
Discovery. The interpretation emphasizes the exchange of cultures in
1804-06 in what is now the American West. The Educator will research,
develop, and coordinate Lewis and Clark bicentennial programming for
delivery on site and at the other venues for the Lewis and Clark
Bicentennial exhibit. The Educator will also contribute to the exhibit
development as a member of the on-site team, coordinate program
development with other staff in the Education Department, and lead
coordinated development of programming with other venues nationwide. The
Educator will serve as education liaison to other organizations, both
regional and national.

The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience
researching, developing, and delivering programs in an interpretive
setting, and experience working with school curricula and developing
complementary programs. Previous work experience with exhibits as a
means of informal education is required. Well-developed ability to
juggle many tasks, a high degree of organization,and a familiarity with
the history of Lewis and Clark and the Louisiana Purchase are highly
desired. Must be able to work well in a team approach. Skills with
educational uses of technology (CD-ROM, distance learning, web-based
programs) are a plus. Qualified applicants will have a Masters degree in
history, education, museum studies or a related field. Experience
working in museum education, historic interpretation, and public
programming may be substituted for masters degree providing candidate
holds a related bachelors degree.

This position is a full-time position for a set amount of time to be
determined; beginning as early in 2001 as possible and running through
