I seem to remember a major study came out in the major local paper a
year or
so ago of strongly suggested evidence that wars are very nearly always
preceded by
an over abundance of males (including their egos).

If people dying via (patriarchal) religious beliefs is to stop, there
must first be a considerable effort to humanize the perception of what
women are- as human first and not as breeding facilities, for more
males. When there is respect for women, the consideration for children
will naturally follow suit. Certainly when women have full access to
family planning, etc., fewer people will be born, hence less crowding,
hence less competition for water, land for crops, less wildlife being
decimated for the so-called benefit of human survival (but not
necessarily responsible thrival).

That is what needs to happen; unfortunately with Bush cutting taxes that

support the well-being of women and other humanity-based programs, we
will
see more of this behavior and it will intensify very, very quickly, even
in the
USA. On the other hand, maybe this needs to happen so that people will
not vote in right-wing conservatives in at least this country. If there
are any
doubts about the links between women's (i.e., human rights) and the
well-being of humanity, one need only seriously consider what is
happening to the
women in Afghanistan, what happened to women and children in Romania
before the fall of hard-line Communism, and China and other countries
world-wide, including this one.
