Technical Information Service, Information Specialist

This position will assist in gathering, analyzing, organizing, and
disseminating information that is designed to improve professional practices
and contribute to the institutional development and performance of museums.
Successful candidates will be adept at developing plans to integrate
technology into the delivery of services; developing policies and procedures
for managing electronic information resources; program marketing and new
product and service development.  Responsibilities include compiling usage
data to support research needs and collections development, fulfillment of
member information requests, and developing and maintaining resource files
and systems for ready retrieval in accordance with taxonomy.  This position
will be involved in the professional interchange that occurs in a
team-oriented work environment and engage in providing information that will
improve museums' operations and advance museum accountability and service to
the public.

Requires a Bachelor's degree.  Master's degree in Library Science (or in the
process of obtaining a degree) or equivalent education and experience in the
delivery of information services in the association environment preferred.
Computer literacy, familiarity with various on-line search strategies and
the development of in-house database systems necessary.  Requires strong
teamwork qualities, a high level of commitment to customer service, and
excellent oral and written communication skills.  An understanding of
current museum issues and trends and enthusiasm for museums is a plus.
