Central Elementary in Artesia, New Mexico worked collaboratively with the
Artesia Historical Museum and Art Center last year on an extensive program
in the arts, culminating in a museum display of the children's artwork at
the end of the school year. One component of their schedule included a visit
from the Museum of New Mexico's Van of Enchantment, bringing art and the
educator from the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts.

You may find that museums are generally not aware of individual school's
intent in participating in museum education programming, including tours.
However, many museums tailor their education programs to reach a certain age
group, depending on their collections. For instance, the Palace of the
Governors, New Mexico's state history museum, has an outreach program
designed specifically for the seventh grade because that is the grade when
New Mexico history is studied.

I used to manage arts mentoring camps for a organization that served
students statewide and while there were schools that accessed our programs
on a regular basis, what I was impressed with was the homeschool students
who integrated our programs into their own education designs.
