BURNABY VILLAGE MUSEUM, Burnaby, BC, CANADA
Our museum has staff in replica early 1920s clothing in our 'village'. We
are an outdoor museum but I would not presume to say that we are actually
"living history". Our staff do blacksmith, tinsmith, print shop platen
press, store clerk, school teacher and housewife type interpretations. The
most unusual one we have had is a Chinese herbalist as we have an entire
herbalist shop's contents on display in a 'shop'.

MILITARY RE-ENACTORS / LIVING HISTORY

Even if you are not into military re-enacting, some of their items would be
useful for civilian re-enacting. Many new immigrants to North America in
this century have been DPs (displaced persons) who were seeking a new life
during or after a war. Some of their belongings, food etc. would have been
obtained from military sources (friendly or enemy) or bought war surplus.
Polarbear (see below) even has some German and Italian replica paper items
including WWII German chocolate bar wrappers!

There are many modern military living history / re-enactment groups. Some do
living history/re-enactments of World War I and many do World War II. Some
groups have very high standards of accuracy. Some links to military
re-enactors are at http://bcoy1cpb.pacdat.net/living.htm on my personal web
site and from those there are many other links. replica

There are also some suppliers of replica and original equipment, uniforms,
accessories, ephemera etc. One of these, "Polarbear Enterprises" in the UK
specializes in replica paper items such as ID cards, cigarette packs, candy
bar wrappers, permits etc.

Another quality supplier of military kit replicas is "King and Country" in
