<Jennifer wrote: I am a student getting my BA in Museum Studies. I am
relatively new to the museum field and was wondering if anyone had any
reading recommendations for books to get me more familiar with the museum
profession. Anything I must read or stay away from?>

Jennifer, I would recommend a good "rummage" through Global Museum's online
bookshop which has over 1,000 titles of interest to you.

One particular favourite of mine ( and NOT just because of the title ! ) is
Dr Richard Steckel's publication "FILTHY RICH & OTHER NONPROFIT FANTASIES"

Another is the primer "GOOD SHOW" which is a simple and effective guide for
temporary exhibitions. Either way, go visit the bookshop at this address
http://www.globalmuseum.org

You might also consider Dr Sharron Dickman's new publication on the subject
of marketing in the tourism sector ( see the FORUM section in Global Museum
this week for Sharron's excellent & downloadable marketing plan template)

Best wishes
Roger
