I want to thank all of you who have inquired regarding salary information
that was compiled by the Registrars Committee of the AAM. For your
information the RC-AAM did have a Benefits and Salary Survey done in 1999
which addressed the functions of registration or collections management
departments. A few respondents described themselves as either curator or
exhibitions coordinator, but for the most part, the survey addressed
registration/collection management salaries. I will reply to those who have
sent me notes and perforce, the replies will reflect the world of
registrars. This publication was made available to then members of the
Registrars Committee.

Please be aware that there are very good publications out there regarding
salaries and comparisons as volunteered by other museum-l'ers, as well as
those two great websites Indigo Nights gave us. AAM's bookstore catalog
carries books addressing salaries. If your job is a government one, check
out the USA Jobs site of the Office of Public Management (www.opm.gov); they
publish a table of salaries for government workers, by profession, and they
break it down geographically.

Again, thanks for your interest!
