The use of exact copies of two dimensional copyrighted works has been
prohibited in case law. So if you take your own photos then there has to be
sufficient artistic originality or transformation for your photos to be
legally original and copyrighted to you.

The other post was refering to the Fair Use Guidelines. In all of copyright
and Fair Use the laws apply to both profit and non-profit organizations.
Under Fair Use Guidelines there are exemptions for commentary, criticism,
teaching, scholarship, research, satire, parody, and some educational
activities such as for classroom teaching or employee training. Other
traditional museum educational activities may qualify if there is no
commercial use - such as no fees for exhibits, brochures, etc. Fair Use
Guidelines look at the character of the use (commercial, private,
non-profit?), the nature of the copyrighted work, the extent of the work
used (a whole book or a sentence), and the amount of money involved if the
copyrighted work was monetized in any way and how the use affects the
market for the work. Fair Use is defined by case law from court judgements
so you need to err on the side of being safe.
