Operations Director



The Florida Holocaust Museum seeks an experienced Operations Director who will be responsible for the oversight of the following Museum departments: Buildings and Grounds, Security, Information Technology, and Front of House services. The Operations Director will be responsible for the overall fiscal management of each department. He or she will be responsible for the management of overall contracts with outside vendors and service providers associated with structure maintenance, IT and operations including janitorial, fire detection and protection, elevators, HVAC, security, audio/visual, electrical and mechanical. The Operations Director collaborates with museum's leadership team individually and as a group to ensure the operational priorities are aligned with the directives of the Museum Director and Board of Directors.

Essential Job Functions
Buildings and Grounds
1.       Oversee the physical plant, including all buildings, grounds, and mechanical systems and their upkeep.
2.       Oversee the integrity and appearance of all buildings and grounds, including the building envelope (roofs, exterior walls, windows, and doors), gardens, walkways, and roadways.
3.       Develop and support operational team in their daily tasks and overall project management.
4.       Conduct walk-throughs of the facility and grounds, ensuring any issues/concerns are addressed consistently, and in a timely manner.
5.       Oversee, along with appropriate curatorial staff, the off-site Preservation, Collections & Research Center's ongoing buildout and remodel.
6.       Coordinating and conduct a variety of museum operating activities including set up and alteration of spaces for events, fundraisers and museum rentals.
7.       Assist in art setups and rotations including art pick up, transportation, receiving & storage; coordinating and directing appropriate staff and temporary exhibitions crew; patching and painting of walls; assembly and movement of display racks, pedestals and supports; lighting installation and art installation.
8.       Maintain building maintenance and operations manuals, repair and maintenance logs, reference documents, and documentation of spare parts.

Project Management
1.       Act as principle liaison representing the interests of the Museum with outside project managers, architects, landscape architects, and contractors on major projects as directed by the Museum Director and Board of Trustees.
2.       Oversee the fiscal management and timelines of these projects to ensure completion is on time and on or under budget.

Information Technology
1.       Oversee the IT needs of the Museum, making sure that outsourced vendors are on top of hardware, software, and network infrastructure support, maintenance, and upgrades.
2.       General oversight of part-time Desktop Support Technician.
3.       Provide appropriate staff training to insure the incorporation of current technological assets.

Security
1.       General oversight of Head of Security and Security Team to ensure the security and safety of the Museum's greatest assets: its collections, staff, volunteers and visitors.
2.       Oversight of correction of any possible security, fire, utility, or environmental hazards
3.       Oversee Head of Security's review and investigation of all incidents involving accidents, unusual circumstances, or criminal offenses within Museum facilities or grounds.
Front of House
1.       General oversight of Admissions & Museum Store Manager and the Welcome Team.
2.       Point of contact for rental inquiries.


Requirements:

Minimum ten-year experience in operations, project planning, and management skills.

Some knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, blueprints; building maintenance experience is essential

Physical dexterity required to access remote spaces (roof, ceiling crawl spaces, etc.) as well as ability to lift and move items of various weights and sizes

Ability to manage, lead, and motivate a strong team while treating all respectfully

Able to manage multiple projects and priorities with successful outcomes

Ability to work flexible and variable hours including some weekends and evenings

Ability to respond quickly to urgent security, building service and utility failures.

Fluency in the English language

MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook required

Good customer services skills; ability to meet with public, donors & Trustees

Education:

Associate Degree in related field (engineering, construction management, facilities management, etc.) and 5 years of relevant experience involving operation and maintenance of industrial and/or commercial facilities,

or 10 years of progressively responsible experience in supervision of facility maintenance and building operations, or equivalent.



Salary Range:

Salary will commensurate with experience, skills and knowledge.
