*BC MUSEUMS GET READY TO CELEBRATE FAMILY DAY *

One-time grants available for arts and cultural heritage institutions to
host Family Day events

*VICTORIA, BC – *The BC Museums Association (BCMA), in partnership with the
Province of British Columbia, is offering one-time grants to support local
museums, art galleries, historic places, cultural heritage institutions and
First Nations communities in hosting a free community event for Family Day
2019. The grant program provides up to $1,000 per event to cover a portion
of the costs, such as art supplies, staff time, honorariums for knowledge
keepers and community elders, facility expenses, equipment rentals or basic
refreshments for a free community Family Day event.

“Museums are wonderful places for families and these grants will help
museums present free events during the Family Day weekend that provide fun
and inclusive ways for kids, parents, grandparents and everyone else to
learn more about local history and engage with arts and culture,” says BCMA
Executive Director Erica Mattson. “We are delighted to work with the
Province of British Columbia again to provide financial support to help
museums open their doors to families in their communities.”

The list of supported arts and cultural Family Day activities will be
available here: https://bcmuseums.org/
