Hi Everyone,

Does anyone out there have an example of a co-curation agreement they are willing to share?

My institution houses North American archaeological material, some of which is subject to the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). We have thousands of objects that have technically been repatriated, but for a variety of reasons, the affiliated tribes are unable to physically take ownership of the material. We continue to house and care for those items until the tribes are ready to bring them home.

It makes sense to have an agreement about that material while we house it, but belongs to a tribe - who is responsible for what, as well as who and how people can access it. We are currently doing this informally, but I want to codify something and am hoping for some examples to work with.

Input and examples are welcome - feel free to respond to me off-list at [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>

Thank you!

-Marla
