Como quizás ya sepan, el ICOM está estudiando y revisando varios documentos
fundamentales, considerando especialmente el futuro de la organización. Se
está preparando una nueva versión de los Estatutos y del Código de
deontología, y un elemento importante de ambos documentos es la definición

y para ofrecer sus propios comentarios o presentar otras recomendaciones.

Sugerencia 1:
Los museos son instituciones [permanentes] que sirven a la sociedad mediante
el fomento del conocimiento, apreciación y conservación del mundo natural y
del patrimonio cultural y científico de la humanidad a través de las
colecciones, recuerdos, lugares y procesos a ellos encomendados para su
investigación e interpretación para el beneficio público.
Sugerencia 2:
Un museo es una institución que sirve al interés público a través de la
enseñanza, colaboración, comunicación o investigación de asuntos sociales,
culturales o científicos, expresados como objetos, especimenes o
actividades.
Sugerencia 3:
Un museo es una organización educativa que sirve al público mediante la
investigación e interpretación del patrimonio natural, cultural y
científico, a través del uso de un entorno físico y, con frecuencia,
objetos. Los museos que reúnen colecciones las cuidan y conservan en
fideicomiso para el futuro.
