The Golden State Museum Store is an exciting new retail environment reflecting the exhibit content in our brand-new, state-of-the-art museum. This position as an assistant to the store manager/buyer requires 30 to 40 hours a week, with some weekends required. The museum, which focuses on California history 1850 to the present, is located in downtown Sacramento. Qualifications: Two years of retail or related customer service experience Excellent communication skills and ease with dealing with varied sectors of the public Strong organizational skills Experience and/or interest in merchandising, inventory control, stock replenishment Proven record of error-free cash handling Professional appearance and deportment Flexibility in schedule Duties: Organize, maintain, and inventory merchandise in store and stock room Assist customers with purchases, special orders, etc. Balance daily cash and charge deposit Train support staff Experience with Wordstock P.O.S. and Microsoft Word a plus, but will train.
