It may or may not be a hoax, but given what it is, it probably doesn't matter. btw, HFM&GV stopped claiming the Brewster Chair was authentic long ago. In fact we have gotten lots of mileage out of the artifact as a "famous forgery", most recently on an A&E television show on forgeries.
