I'll give you a little hint about ISO 9000 standards in the workplace. all this is about is how you perform you daily operations, (order of events, chain of command, etc.) and how you deal with a non-conforming product(may be a service, may be a product, may not even apply). the end result is, you write your own standards, document them, track revisions to those standards, and follow those standards. most museums already have much of this stuff in place and all you would need to do is keep and track those documents. i don't know whether ISO 9000 actually applies to museums since it is intended to be used as a measure of quality control in various industries. there are many categories inside ISO 9000 that represent different types of organizations. whether your organization actually 'fits' into any may require some investigation.
