A while back there was a query about conducting sampling for conservation audits. I forwarded the query to CoOL and got an e-mail message back from Robert Waller, Chief of Collections/ Head of Conservation at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Rob has been developing methodologies for risk assessments and suggests that you take a look at the following reference: Waller, R., 1996. Preventive conservation planning for large and diverse collections. Preservation of Collections Assessment, Evaluation, and Mitigation Strategies. Preprints of the June 10 -11, 1996 workshop. American Institute for Conserevation, Washington, pp. 1-9. I also think that the following paper (also by Rob) may be helpful:Waller, R., 1994. Conservation risk assessment: a strategy for managing resources for preventive conservation. In Preventive Conservation Practice, Theory and Research. Preprints of the Contributions to the Ottawa Congress, 12 - 16 September 1994. International Institute for Conservation. London. pp. 12 - 16. Good luck!
