Of course you are largely right and I support fully your ideal of a
museum. But I am not sure how you got all that from my comments. I
would love to see museum addressing political and controversial
issues-a must in a country struggling with change the way we are in
South Africa-but I was horrified at a museum supporting a political rally
(sort of) that was more of a propaganda excercise than a learning
opportunity. I still think that there is a difference. What I object to is a
continuation of our museum's support of particular political policies and
thinking. The vast majority of museums in SA are publically funded and
do have a responsibility not onl to educate but to actively counteract the
lies about our history that they have previously portrayed/or in their
silence supported. Many SA museums are doing a great job of this
against enormous odds.
