Help!! The president of the barnes foundation annunced today that they
would be installing a sign on the facade of the building in "bronze
letters" with the Foundation's name. (presumably a part of the camaign to
achieve a high profile for the institution) The building, which just
underwent an expensive, but largely sensitve resoration is a masterwork of
Paul Phillipe Cret ca. 1925. Its pink limestone facade is decorated with
original work by Jacques Lipschutz. THe new sign would undoubtedly
destroy the architectural and aesthetic integrity of this building.

Any suggestions on how to stop this, whom to contact, what to do?
P.S. Our watchgog group (Barnes Watch) has a web site at
members.aol.com/barneswatch with an interesting page on damage to
Matisse's la danse, installed in 1934 as a mural in the foundation.
