A funny thing happened to me (repeatedly) at this years AAM convention in Minneapolis. As everyone present saw, the nametags really emphasize ones first name rather effectively. As I am writing this I can look clear across my office to the bulletin board and read the name on my tag as clear as day. Anyway, while I was being being introduced or while simply standing around enjoying cheese, grapes, and other free stuff, at least two dozen or more people came up to me and asked "are you THE Henry Crawford who I always see on MUSEUM-L?" I thought "good lord, do I talk *that* much.?" All I could say was "yep, 'fraid so." I received all kinds of comments from people who indicated that Museum-L was a great communication device, and how much fun it was to meet one another face to face, instead of keyboard to keyboard. It was a profound experience to see how much the internet really means to our profession. It is even more exciting to think about the potential of this medium and its yet undiscovered benefits to us and ours. Now that I have a national reputation as a cyberspace motor-mouth, I can truly say that it is a real pleasure to converse with all of my colleagues both on line and "in line." Let's keep it up, friends. Never hesitate to ask questions, answer questions, and speak your mind, because that's where the learning really begins. Regards to all, and 'till next time, take care.
