I recently read an article about the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine having had it's IMS accrediation pulled because they were operating their collection rather maintaining it as a static collection. If this is truly the reason the accreditation was pulled, it bodes ill for a lot of 'working' industrial and agricultural museums (like the one I'm associated with). I liked to know more about this. The article was a editorial piece in a recent issue of Locomotive and Railway Preservation. It suggested that perhaps a different collections policy is needed for this class of museums.
