I recently read an article about the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine
having had it's IMS accrediation pulled because they were operating
their collection rather maintaining it as a static collection. If this
is truly the reason the accreditation was pulled, it bodes ill for a lot
of 'working' industrial and agricultural museums (like the one I'm
associated with).

I liked to know more about this. The article was a editorial piece in a
recent issue of Locomotive and Railway Preservation. It suggested that
perhaps a different collections policy is needed for this class of
museums.

The SPCRR is a  non-profit museum specializing in the preservation and
interpretation of narrow-gauge railroad equipment built by the Carter
Bros. between 1876 and 1906
